Irish Whiskey: Lock-in Livestream

October 18, 2020

On this week’s Lock-in we’re diving into wood! Lots of wood! Irish whiskey doesn’t become Irish whiskey without the influence of a minimum of three years in wooden barrels and the history of wood usage is a fascinating tale.

We sip on three unique whiskeys this week and share the stories of their maturation and wood types –Glendalough Single Malt 13 year old, Red Spot 15 year old and Redbreast Palace Bar 17 year old.

These three whiskeys are influenced by casks made from Japanese, European and American oak with further influences from previous cask inhabitants sherry, bourbon and marsala.

We chat about the flavors, about their journey to the bottle and the history behind each of these smashing drops of Irish whiskey.

We’re also joined by a very special musical guest! If you happen to have any of these whiskeys on your shelf, this is the perfect opportunity to take them down and sip along with us.

Irish whiskeys sipped this week:

  • Glendalough Single Malt 13 year old
  • Red Spot 15 year old
  • Redbreast Palace Bar 17 year old
