Mark Gillespie, WhiskyCast, Writers’ Tears, The Story & Uncle Nearest: Lock-in Livestream
On this week’s Lock-in we were joined by legendary whisk(e)y podcaster Mark Gillespie, host of WhiskyCast, to chat about Irish whiskey, bourbon, and his long career as a whisk(e)y broadcaster.
Mark has produced 870 episodes of his weekly show and has seen tremendous changes in the world of Irish whiskey since he first began broadcasting about the world of brown spirits more than 15 years ago.
This week we sipped on two Irish whiskeys together and Mark shared the tale and tastes of a newcomer to the world of American whiskey which has a wonderful story.
The first whiskey we shared was our very own whiskey – The Story – of which Mark managed to secure a bottle of this limited release. We then sipped on Writers’ Tears Copper Pot blended whiskey, and we rounded out our chat with Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey 1856.
We were very happy to chat with Mark about his career, the whiskeys he likes and the changes he’s seen in the industry. He also got a good (and deserved) ribbing about the fact that he beat us at the recent Whisky Magazine Icons of Whisky Awards to be crowned Global Whisky Communicator of the Year.
Enjoy the replay of this week’s Lock-in!
Irish whiskeys sipped this week:

Each week Barry opens up a few different Irish whiskeys and invites a guest or two to join for conversation and craic.
The Lock-in Livestream is a great chance to raise a glass to our health, one another and another week under our belt.
Irish whiskey brings people together. Each Friday 1000s of Irish whiskey fans come together in one place – the Lock-in Livestream. Mark your calendar for this weekly celebration of all things Irish whiskey.
