Rademon Estate Distillery, Bushmills, Redbreast, Tullamore D.E.W. & Niall Connolly: Lock-in Livestream

May 2, 2021

David Boyd-Armstrong and his wife Fiona are the founders of Rademon Estate Distillery in Northern Ireland’s increasingly-prolific whiskey producing county of Down. In addition to creating Ireland’s most awarded gin – Shortcross Gin – they have been working quietly and fastidiously on their own whiskey.

David joined us on the Lock-in to share the wonderful family story of this distillery’s founding, what they’ve been busying working on and what we can expect from them when it comes to whiskey.

Joining us for our “Put a Cork in it” segment was our musical guest this week, Niall Connolly, all the way from Cork and now living in New York. Niall is an incredible singer-songwriter with multiple albums under his belt. He’s also a great storyteller and great man for the craic. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him live multiple times and was thrilled to have him join us for a session on the Lock-in.

Our three whiskeys are well known Irish names and heavyweights in the category.

We opened with a drop of the world-renowned Bushmills 10 yr old Single Malt, then moved on to the most awarded Single Pot Still whiskey in the world, Redbreast 12 yr old, before finishing the evening with a mighty blend – Tullamore D.E.W. 15 yr old. We shared their stories as well as their sips, so be sure to catch up with this week’s replay!

Irish whiskeys sipped this week:

  • Bushmills 10 yr old Single Malt
  • Redbreast 12 yr old
  • Tullamore D.E.W. 15 yr old
