Exploring Waterford’s Whisk(e)y Revolution

January 30, 2019

A county in Ireland that five years ago didn’t have a single distillery is an unlikely location for some of the greatest innovation in the Irish whiskey world today, but a small county in the sunny south east of Ireland is leading a whiskey revolution. In this second episode of 2019, we’re off to Waterford.

We’re heading due East from the last episode where we went behind the scenes at the old Midleton Distillery.

This week we’re an hour’s drive from Midleton in a county whose name and capital city to most Americans and especially to generations of Irish Americans is synonymous with the famous crystal that for years was the standard gift for weddings.

But the county is making a fast name for itself in the whiskey world. We examine that in this week’s episode exploring Waterford Distillery, Blackwater Distillery, Henry Downes Bar and Revolution Bar.
